On 24 September 2026, Madagasikara Voakajy, together with local communities from the rural commune of Amparihitsokatra in Ambatondrazaka District, carried out a firebreak operation around the Analalava Protected Area.

This action took place during Madagascar’s current bushfire season, when uncontrolled fires can spread quickly and threaten forests, wildlife and the livelihoods of surrounding communities. By creating firebreaks around the protected area, local communities are taking preventive action to reduce the risk of fires reaching and damaging this important natural area.
