May 1st marks International Labour Day. At Madagasikara Voakajy, this date is an opportunity to pay tribute to all those who work tirelessly to protect biodiversity and improve the living conditions of local communities in Madagascar.

From field staff to programme managers, including rangers, nursery workers, community facilitators, local agents, and members of village associations, every link in our human chain plays a crucial role.

Conservation work is not limited to protecting iconic species or forests. It also involves a continuous commitment to sustainable development, environmental education, community well-being, and the promotion of local knowledge. These actions require daily effort, often demanding, sometimes invisible, but always essential.

And behind these visible actions, there are also the men and women working in the background: our Operations team, logistics officers, drivers, accountants, procurement officers, administrators, and office staff, who make sure every mission runs smoothly and efficiently.
Without them, there would be no supplies in the field, no missions launched, no seamless coordination. They are the logistical backbone of our success.

Today, we salute the courage, perseverance, and passion of all those who choose conservation as their vocation. Every role, every action counts.
