For the third consecutive year, Madagasikara Voakajy is participating in the Wildlife Ranger Challenge (WRC), an African challenge bringing together rangers from 24 countries around a common mission: protecting the unique biodiversity of their territories. This year, our rangers are engaged in protecting the Mangabe-Ranomena-Sahasarotra protected area, a sanctuary home to many endemic species, including 10 species of lemurs.
Each team consists of 4 rangers. In the Push-Up Challenge, they completed 204 push-ups in 2 minutes, and in the Sit-Up Challenge, they completed 189 sit-ups in 2 minutes, impressive performances demonstrating their discipline and determination.
The main challenge? A 21 km march with a 22 kg backpack, carried out simultaneously by hundreds of rangers across Africa. This event symbolizes the weight of their daily mission: watching over the Mangabe forest day and night to protect its natural treasures.
Support the Madagasikara Voakajy Rangers
Your support is crucial. Every donation strengthens their ability to protect biodiversity: funding their equipment, patrols, and ongoing monitoring of the most vulnerable species. There are several ways to support them, including making a direct donation via this link [Madagasikara Voakajy - Wildlife Ranger Challenge 2025]. Each donation contributes to protecting the unique species of the Mangabe protected area, such as the golden frog and the lemurs that inhabit it.
Why this challenge matters
The Wildlife Ranger Challenge highlights their vital role in conservation and raises international awareness of the importance of their work. Every step they take on this course is a step towards protecting Mangabe’s endemic species, threatened by poaching and deforestation.
Next challenge: the 2.4 km “Time Trial”, scheduled for next week, where our rangers will once again put their endurance and courage to the test.
