Efforts to halt the slaughter of lemurs continue in Lakato in the Zahamena-Ankeniheny corridor

Following on from the alarming revelations that lemurs, including the amazing indri, are being hunted and killed for food ( pdf Drivers of bushmeat consumption in eastern Madagascar (724 KB) ) we are working in local schools to inform communities about the wildlife law. We donated 90 tables to primary schools, each with a lemur conservation sticker on, as well as distributing posters in Malagasy informing people about the protected status of lemurs. Our mascot, Lenari (an indri himself!) helped us to generate considerable local interest in the event.
